Root Breakdown

Root-derived
con-together, with
+
dicsay, speak, declare; point out
+
-tionact, process, state
=condition

From Latin condicio, from condīcere (con- 'together' + dīcere 'to say') — to 'talk over and agree on terms.' A condition was originally an agreed term, the thing both sides 'said together.' From 'agreed term' came 'requirement' (a condition for the deal) and then 'the state of things' (the terms you find something in). The 'saying' origin is now invisible in everyday use.
