im- (not) + prud (foreseeing) + -ent (adj.) = 'not foreseeing.' Put 'not' in front of prudent and the foresight disappears: someone who fails to look ahead at consequences acts rashly and unwisely. (im- is the form of in- 'not' used before p.)
