per- (thoroughly) + lūcidus (clear, bright), with the r assimilating to l before lucid → pel-lucid: light passes all the way through. Literally a pellucid stream is crystal-clear to the bottom; figuratively a pellucid argument is so transparent it takes no effort to follow. It sits at the top of the clarity ladder — even clearer than lucid — but is rare and literary.
