Definitions

Plural of term, but it has idiomatic uses worth knowing in their own right. 'Terms' as the conditions of a deal comes from term = a boundary/condition. From there grew set phrases: 'on good terms' (the conditions of a relationship), 'come to terms with' (accept), and 'in terms of' (with respect to).
