源自拉丁 genuinus「天生的、自然的、本来的」（gen「生」+ -ine）。genuine 的东西忠于其出生——是它生来该是的样子，不是假冒或替换。从「天生」分出两义：genuine leather（真材料）和 genuine concern（真正属于你的感情）。
