majority

major（更大）+ -ity（表状态的名词后缀）= 「成为更大那部分的状态」。如果群体中某一部分比其余合起来还大，它就是 majority —— 过半数。法律义（majority = 成年）也出自同根，源自「更大的年纪」，即你完全长大的那一点。
