sus-（sub- 的变体，「从下方」）+ pense（拉丁语 pendere/pensus「悬挂」）=「悬在下方」。想象某样东西吊在空中，还没落定。当一个故事或决定的结果被「悬」着不给你，你就被吊在那里——心也跟着悬着，等它落下。
